She could actually feel a vein throb to the rhythm of the marching band inside her head. She gingerly opened her bloodshot eyes, staring at the leather seat she had her face pressed into. The strong smell of leather in her nostrils made her nauseous and the thick, coppery taste of blood in her mouth didn't exactly help. Buffy felt the bile rise in her throat and she swallowed the bitter fluid down again. It left a sour aftertaste in her mouth and she groaned, thinking that she would sell her soul to the devil for a glass of water. To get her mind of the ache that seemed to fill her whole being, she concentrated on her surroundings. She pulled at the rope tying her wrists together behind her back but soon gave up when all it gave her was a cramp in her wrists. Instead she managed to push herself up into a sitting position and lean against the seat, getting a first look at whoever had knocked her out and kidnapped her. Buffy found herself staring into familiar dark brown eyes that were thoughtfully watching her in the driving mirror. "Faith." She sighed and the brown eyes seemed to suddenly smile. The brunette turned her head against her, grinning. "Wasn't sure you'd ever wake up, B. I guess I slugged you pretty hard, huh? How's your pretty head?" Faith asked her with her usual dark, husky voice. "I've felt better." Buffy replied, watching the brunette cautiously. "When the hell did you wake up from your coma and when did they decide to let your crazy ass back out on the streets?" "They didn't really let me out." Faith responded and winked at Buffy in the driving mirror. "I woke up from my beauty sleep…and I got a little bit wild." "I'm not going to ask." Buffy mumbled. "Still old trusty, boring Buffy, huh?" Faith commented, shaking her head in disappointment. "When are you going to learn that you and I are just the same?" "I'm nothing like you!" Buffy protested, pulling once again at her restraints. "I don't go around killing people! And I'm not some crazy person like someone else in here who will remain nameless." She gave Faith a murderous glare. "No offense, Buffy, but you're not exactly little Miss. Perfect either. I've seen the look in your eyes you get when you slay and you fucking love it! Don't try to deny it. You're better than that." Faith told her. "It's not the same thing. They're monsters…and I don't even want to discuss this with you. What do you want from me? Huh?" Buffy yelled at her, agitated. "Monsters, Buff? Then how come you screwed one of them? Was it the danger? It gave you a big thrill, didn't it? I know your type. You like it rough and mind-blowing and you really don't give a damn if you end up dead because you can feel death coming anyway." Faith told her, ignoring Buffy's little outburst. "I have no idea what you're talking about." Buffy said, her eyes narrowing. "No, I bet you keep on telling yourself that." Faith said. "But tonight you're going to look at truth's ugly face and you're going to look it in the eye." "What are you raving about?" Buffy asked. "What exactly do you want from me?" The younger slayer just stared darkly at her and Buffy shivered when she saw the dangerous gleam in her eyes. Suddenly the car stopped and Buffy looked out the windows seeing nothing but darkness. "Where are we?" Faith turned around and tilted her head. "At the end of the road, honey." "What's that supposed to mean?" Buffy asked her, feeling fear squeeze her heart for the first time. Faith laughed and threw her long, brown hair back. Buffy watched her as she gave the car door a violent shove and stepped out of the car. She swallowed, once again trying to free her hands. The door to her right swung open and Faith's hand took a firm, strong grip of Buffy's blonde hair and dragged her out of the car. Buffy groaned, feeling the pain increasing. She almost lost her breath when she fell down hard onto the ground after getting a vicious kick in the back. Obscenities flowed from her mouth as she rolled onto her back, staring up at the starry, blue sky. Suddenly Faith appeared in her vision, standing over her with a smile on her lips. "Such a dirty mouth, Buff. Not so damn innocent and sweet as you like everyone to believe, are you?" "You want to fight? Is that it, Faith? Release me and I'll knock your teeth down your throat." Buffy threatened her. Faith grinned. "You're awfully cute when you get mad, Buffy. Anyone ever told you that?" "Fuck you!" Buffy yelled, angry because her whole body seemed to hurt and because she couldn't understand what Faith wanted from her. "Would you really?" Faith asked in a low voice, straddling the older slayer. "There was a time when I wished you would but you never noticed the way I looked at you, did you? Or were you too busy denying what you was feeling again?" "What?" Buffy gasped. Faith stroked the blonde's bruised cheek. "I could have died for you…" Buffy trembled when Faith's lips brushed against hers. She was even more shocked when she received a hard slap across her face. "Why are you doing this?" She whimpered and Faith made a little grimace. "We're going to play a little game called 'Tails you live, heads you're dead'." She said, pulling out a coin from her pocket. Buffy's eyes widened. "What do you mean?" Faith smiled and reached her hand under her jacket to the back of her jeans and pulled out a gun. "The rules are really simple, Buffy." She said, showing her the coin. "Tails and you get to live, heads and you'll die." "I don't…I've never meant to hurt you." Buffy said, trying to keep calm. "But you did so it really doesn't matter, does it?" Faith said. "Besides we've both wronged each other. Come to think of it that was all we ever did, wasn't it?" "So, why? Why are you doing this? I almost killed you and now you're going to kill me? Is this your idea of revenge?" Buffy asked, her eyes never leaving the barrel of the gun pointed at her head. "Always looking for a reason, Buff. Don't you know that we really don't need one?" Faith said and stroked her hand down Buffy's collarbone to caress her breast. Buffy whimpered; looking away as tears filled her eyes. She didn't want to die like this. "Look at you. Not really wearing big-sister-clothes anymore, are you? No, you're just a sniveling little bitch. You think I don't know you, Buffy? I can fucking feel you under my skin. This connection that we have…you feel it too, don't you?" Faith asked her, her face so close to Buffy's that the blonde could feel her breath on her skin. When Buffy didn't answer her Faith punched the ground next to Buffy's head and screamed into her face. "Don't you?!" "Yes." Buffy admitted, sobbing. "Confusing, isn't it? To not know where I begin and you end? You know there's only one way to stop it." Faith told her and Buffy looked up at her. "Killing me won't make the feelings go away." Buffy said, a tear escaping her eye and running down her cheek. "Yeah, maybe you're right but it's a start." Faith said and sighed. "Okay. You're right. We should make things a bit fairer. That's you're thing, right? And I'm all for the excitement. So, let's say that tails you get to live, heads you're dead and tails I die and heads I live? Makes it a bit more interesting, doesn't it? One way or the other one of us is going to die here." "Faith, please. Don't do this. I'll get you help…I'll help you." Buffy begged. "It's a bit late for that, hon." Faith said, looking at the coin in her hand. She threw it up in the air and both slayers followed its way up into the air and then its journey falling down onto the back of Faith's hand. The younger slayer snickered. "It's been a great ride, though. Goodbye, Buffy." "Faith, no!" A gunshot echoed into the night and then all that could be heard in the desert land was a young woman's cry. The End Sunshine: "Today's guest speaker is Faith. F?" Faith: "You in the back! Yeah, you, lady. No offense, but screw the whole not going to send feedback thing. There's gonna be pain if you don't. Count on it. What's that, love? You think you can take me?"
