but I can pass on that I will probably be looking to encourage you to simplify and
normalize bits of the past, or to at least consider such changes and consciously
opt against them. Things like... does her father have to rocket up the ranks? Air
force people are transfered at will regardless of promotions. A low-ranked flunky has
a harder time seeing his family than a higher ranked one.
Does her father actually ever have to have a time where is a positive influence on
any of them? Perhaps he was never there much at all.
Does it have to be drugs that her mother gets into? Can we make it even less sensational
and leave it as a drunk and someone willing to take advantage of her and her family?
etc.

Well lets see:

    someone who you could use in the military who might want to come lookin'
    for her ;)

I guess what I meant about the air force dad not being there is that the real cas seemed
to indicate that her father was lacking a lot of the time. There might not have been a
time in this cas's life when her father really did take the time with the family,
regardless of what she thinks she remembers (when she is inclined to recall).
I'm certainly eager to have the air force dad as a potential character. :)

I was thinking about it and I thought that a child from a background like
that would probably embelish her real dad with these mythical 'perfect dad'
qualities. I figured that she saw her dad as a wonder dad, who went off
and became a high ranker in the air force because he was brilliant and 
they needed him. Atleast thats what she has convinced herself. He could be
a low grade mechanic in real life, but im sure the character believes he
was off fighting alien invasion or being james bond or something. 
 
Air force dad is cool :). Go crazy, Mr L. :)
 
Also I didnt want to keep too close to the real Cas as many of the background
elements in my character are unsavory and basically evil. So I didnt want
to poke or prod your real cas with my angsty evil one. Errr that make sense?
 
What I guess would be cool would be any 'factual' changes you want to make.
I mean if we take the backgound as written to be what she believes, I am 
more than happy for you to have reality different and for her to learn it.
Um. Im trying to say 'her dad was in the airforce' is something that she
would know and would have been true (i hope), but 'he was high ranking and 
couldnt be with us becuase he was working for teh country' is something that
she belives and if you change it to 'he was just a grunt' then that doesnt
effect the background until she finds out. (IE you can go as crazy as you want
with the reality of the second item, but she probably would have known where
her dad worked so if you want to change stuff like that then tell me and 
I can change the background to suit).
 
Or you can just say 'drop this idea, well work it out later' and thats
cool too ;)

I like the "her story" "real story" thing. I'm all for that.
I'll see what other concerns I have. there are not a lot. I figure we will shake
the character out a bit for a few sessions and have a better sense of what matters
and what doesn't. There are a lot of characters for me to keep track of (all well
described), but I can deal with that, as long as you don't go running to them all the
time until I get used to them myself. And you have to grant me the ability to make them
mine to some degree. :)

I am potentially worried that you have cast a character here who has no way of relating
to a grou in a positive way. And yet has "protect group" sorts of obsessions. I can
see the duality of her personality, and respect it. But I worry a bit about it being
impossible to get her to function in the group eventually.
Ideas?

milk crates don't get a lot of use in the states. I'd drop the reference 
and make it a nondescript "box" or "crate".
 
Personally, I'd have the floor covered in a really mildewd carpet that 
was put in years ago. Land lords of that type did tend to put in 
god awful carpets as they are easier to deal with than bare floors. And 
they soak up beer and other liquides so well. And when
the bathroom or kitchen overflow... ugh.
 
important question for me: is the apartment 1) basement 2) first floor 
3) second floor 4) any other floor, and optionally 5) top or roof.
 
First floor is the one that gets broken into most and tends to have 
bars on the windows anywhere you live. Second are targets, as a 
result (usually don't have bars, and are not too far up). Basement 
often have bars, and in this sort of place usually have plumbing 
problems (their own and those above them). Tend to be cement floors, though
and indeed most buildings wiht basements seem to be stone or cement 
or whatever. And roofs bring their own charm and dangers... :)

*nod* There isnt a rush or anything (im just a junky, man! :) and
working it out over the next few sessions is cool :).

I think I need to rework the mental flaws and fears and stuff. They
are still based on the inital ones I wrote theose weeks ago....


I made quite a few characters and you should feel free to grab
and use as many or as few as you want.

I figure that from your point of view the imporant ones are:
  * TF and Sarah [ friends ]
    TF and Sarah can be used as hostages or 'wards' ;). Cas cares
    enough to try and see they arnt harmed.
  * fixer [ the tempting serpent type character....]
    He comes to bug her, she tries to avoid
  * DMS and iceberge [ real family ]
    (the local gang heads) she is avoiding because DMS is a 'serious
    relationship' and she's running away from that.

All the others are just fluff.

The hard ones (from my view of the character) are DMS and Iceberg are 
people she really cares what they think and really cares for them. 
Naturally she is afraid of that and is running away and avoiding that.


I think she would leave the 'Hood happily if she could get access to 
Rene's credit card or something ;). Of the characters, only DMS and
Ice would come looking for her (and maybe Fixer if he needed something
from her.)

I was figuring that she wouldnt find them threatening.
Too young for a realtionship, too young to be a threat, etc etc.
Some vague pandering to her mothering instinct ;)

Ideas cam had:
  * would fight to help anyone being attacked (espeically rich or helpless
    people). naz's char? Judy's char? 
  * if someone wanted something from the 'hood, Fixer would probably be the
    person hired to get it. May hire cas.
  * if she is drawn to Andre's char then that could happen anywhere.
    'I just decided to travel across town..'
  * Plus she may be willing to do street crime, so if someone left their
    car open (or even unguarded)...
 
Just trying to be helpful., 
 
*thinks* Um. Im probably coming over as a total control freak or something
but really im just trying to be helpful and i happen to be obsessed with 
this character  ;)
