Alex rolls up and conrad and mary do the spell. A god appears and an ape like creature materialies and tells Alex to leave. Apparently mary is ok because she isnt human.

The ape greets conrad, or "Ulthur Pethdrakos Vastid, scorcerer and sage to the fallen, walker of flesh" and asks why he had been summoned.

The ape demon is apparently "Askid Armouror to he who shall not be named".

Mary gets a fright when the ape asks about sacrifices.

Mary bargains for info about the knife. 3 lies, one she chooses, one it chooses and the last one depends on mary's choice.

The knife: I smell fear, I taste anger, hate and rage, I feel alone, lost and doomed. Hmm, delicious. The scale, it is linked to this girl. She is close. It is also linked to Ovacam and he is far away. The link to Ovocam is weak, there is no portal, so it is perhapse but a feeling. The scale has powers, the Skin of the Dragon, to protect and heal, the Claw of the Dragon, to cut through anything and the Wings of the Dragon, to fly. apparently it was makde by "Thotek, weapons master to Jormuld, lord of serpents."

"How do I break the link to Ovocam and Faith?" Mary asks.

"Hmm. Difficult." The ape replies. "What do you have to offer?"

While discussing the possibility of breaking the link to Faith, a simple misunderstanding of words leads to the discussion about Mary becoming the Slayer in place of Faith.

"Can you really do that?"

"Yes, but why would we want to? Ovocam prepares for the time when the 4 slayers walk the earth. Why would we deal to remove Ovocams slayer from this time? What does it get us? Unless we can come to an arrangement with you."

"I wont be a pawn."

"You dont need to be. We want access to this realm. If a 'good' slayer wins, the gates are closed off. If an evil one wins, the gates flood open. Either way, not good for us. Better we keep the gates as they are now and 'farm'."

Mary ponders. "I want to be a Slayer, I want the knife and I want Faith not to be the Slayer. Plus I want hte option not to take the prize. Also no more incursions, that we have today I mean."

The demon smiles. "I think we can do that. Naturally, our dimension would want sole access and we can deal with the other dimensions, but, assuming my lord agrees, I can promise no more in number or in feedings. Naturally, we'd need you to be around to hold this end of the bargain, you know, for a few generations."

"Immortality."

The ape shrugs. "Sure, why not."

"Ok, but I dont want to get any older. Provide that and you have a deal."

"Well, I guess we can do that."

"Oh and heal Conrad."

"Sure."

The ape dissapears and Mary chats to Conrad. Conrad thinks that the current level is safer than risking opening the gates, so he will support Mary, for the while at least.

Mary smiles and heads off.
