More police questions

Jayde gets up and has a leasurely breakfast.

Her dad calls about the police wanting to talk to Jayde again. "Can we organise it for 4?"

"Yeah. Fine."

Jayde goes and spars with Michel. He is going to work out a training program for Jayde.

16 Sep 2000, Saturday 4:08pm, Twins House

The police come and chat to Jayde again. They go over Jayde's statements from the other day, just to verify it. Then they start asking about Jayde's relations with her friends. Her dad intrupts asking where this is going...

"Is my daughter a suspect?"

"Not as such. We have had some doubt raised about her relationship with this 'Faith'".

"Huh?"

"Well Jayde was popular at school, but then got to univeristy and then dropped her friends and started hanging out with new people, right? Well, lets see so hanging out at new 'alternative clubs' and working in an 'alternative' bookshop. Plus we have had some, admittedly second hand reports that your relationship between Jayde and Faith isnt just platonic."

"Er, no way!" Jayde protests.

"Can I speek to my client alone?" gack's David.

"Sure." say the detectives leaving.

"Jayde, if you neeed some other legal represntation, I can have someone here in 20 mins. You need to be honest with the police and if you cant do that with me then.."

"Dad, Im not gay."

"Are you sure? I mean, about the legal thing?"

"Yes dad. Its fine."

"Police tend to look for links. Usually it's whoever is there whenever the police roll up. Either that or they look for people with links between people, especially if they think that they have been mislead."

"Yeah, plus if you're different, you must be guilt."

David looks over at Jayde, but doesnt say anything.

"So?" the police asks when they come back in. "Do you know anything about the false ID? The street doesnt exist and the number is wrong. It was trivial to detect, but it was programmed inside the DMV computer which shows complexity."

"I dont know Faith that well. She came to my party I took her at face value."

"Well do you know a 'Susan Vedder'?"

"No? Who is she?"

"She was found stabbed in the woods. On the night before your sister and faith were hospitalised with stab wounds."

"Huh? Ive never heard of her or met her or anything."

"So you dont know anything about that?"

"Nope."

"And Faith wasnt involved at all in the library fire?"

"Nope. She wasnt there."

"Youre sure?"

"Yeah."

"Hmm. Ok. We might want you to sign a statement to that effect, but we'll call you later in the week."

The police leave.

Alex gets a call from Jayde. "The police are looking for Faith. The ID the Watchers worked out was 'trival' to find."

"Really?"

"Yeah, apparenly the licence number was way wrong and Berkeley was mispelled and everything. Even the street didnt exist. Occisore street or something."

"Oh, that's latin. Err, it means... oh... the slayer or murderer"

"Ah. Damn."
