New friends and old slayers

Jayde gets up and chats with her Dad. He has an idea about how to help. Hmm.

The police come over and and ask some questions.

"We're investigating the assult and battery of Hoshi McBlahblah in a nightclub on Saturday the 9th of September"

"Uh-huh."

"Where were you on the night in question?"

"At a nightclub with Faith, dancing."

"Did you see the incident?"

"Yeah, Hoshi mistook Faith for someone she didn't like."

"And so she just punched her?"

"Yes. She has a short tempter."

"Hmm. So, do you know where she is now?"

"Um, yeah, she was in the hospital with me."

"Really? Ok. DO you know her full name?"

"Err, yeah, it's Faith Hopkins. Or Elizabeth Faith Hopkins."

"Good. Thanks. So I just want to go over the incident again. This Faith just punched Hoshi after being mistaken for this Buffy?"

"Yeah, she can be a bit voilent."

"What did she say?"

"About half a sentence."

"Ah."

"So how do you know her?"

"We just kinda hang out."

"Ok. Thanks."

15 Sep 2000, Friday 1:52pm, Twins house

Michael Dempster introduces himself. He's an ex soldier who David has hired to 'protect' Jayde. Jayde takes him through his paces and he's obviously trained, but not nearly as fast or strong as Jayde.

"You're pretty strong. Impressive." Michael comments.

"Thanks. Do you belive in demons?"

"Nope."

"You will."

"Uh-huh. So we should train tomorrow then?"

"Sure. See you at 2."

"OK."

Michael leaves and Jayde rings Alex.

"Hey Alex, I have a new friend."

"Who?"

"Some ex navy seal sas assasin guy."

"I know some sas fellows back in England. They were ok, but their training was a bit scary. So, what's he doing?"

"Helping me train. He's kinda cute."

"Really?"

"Yeah, a bit too old for me though."

"*ha* WEell, Im not looking at the moment. Thanks anyway."

15 Sep 2000, Friday 3:28pm, Berkeley Hospital

Jayde goes to visit Gemma in hospital. "Gemma, you're slacking off. There are books to read and Eeevil to defeat."

Gemma replies, "..."

"Hmmmf."

Jayde heads off home and chats to Stella about things. Stella comments that she had to "Clean up Gemma's room. This smelly thing. Ewwww. Er, so anyway, how's Gemma?"

"Unconcious."

"So where is DMS?"

"Oh, he went to see a film. Gladiator I think. 7:30 session."

"I might go and join him."

Jayde goes out and finds DMS and they watch the film together, then go out for coffee.

"So, D, what are you planning on doing?"

"I dont know. I was thinking of doing my GED or something. I dont really have anything to go back to. Everything that I had back at my old Hood is gone now. A drive by with an AK. Everything and everyone's gone now. Ive got nothing to go back to"

"Hmm."

Jayde and DMS go home and then go to sleep.

Jayde has a dream where she is walking along in the dirt. The primal is ahead and to the East and above, on a scaffold. Buffy leaps and falls down, approaching the primal. A scuffle to the West and Faith is fighting a losing battle against Orme. Seeing a chance, she drops her guard, letting Orme stab her and in turn, getting past his defence to sink the dagger in. She falls to her knees. Buffy reaches out, almost touching the primal...

Everything stops for Faith and Buffy and the primal turns and walks towards Jayde.

"Things can be different. New. The three recombined. The slayer should not hide in the shadows. Watchers. No. The gift should be unique. There will be another. Of the four, only one will finally accept the gift. The others will change and die. One will be true. You should take the knife. You should learn to kill."

"You dont make much sense do you? Why should I kill?"

"The slayer is a killer. Take the knife. Learn to kill."

Jayde reaches forward and takes the knife, looking unconvinced.
