Party and pooper

10 Sep 2000, Sunday 1:22am, 'Student' night club

Having had the call from Mary, they get back to dancing. Faith goes out on a mini patrol and Jayde goes back to dancing and getting guys to buy her drinks. Fortunatly she has got lots of guys round her so the odd drunk is brushed off the the other guys.

Thomas comes over and dances for a bit. "Er, Hi. So is this going to be a permant feature on the Jayde social calendar?"

"Not really. Im here with another girl."

"Oh. Oh! Oh is this someone from your work?"

"Yeah, sort of."

"Ok. Gee, that must make it hard, you know, with my sister round."

"Yeah, sort of. Not a problem now though."

"Is this something that Im going to hear about? At length?"

"Probably."

"Sigh. Well if you need someone to talk to, then feel free to give Myriam or me a call. You know, I know its hard."

Faith comes back empty handed and edgy so Jayde and Faith go patroling.

"Orme hide out?"

"Yep!"

10 Sep 2000, Sunday 2:01am, Abandoned house in Berkeley.

The slayers roll up and split up and search the house. They find two vamps carrying two unconcious people out.

Once of the vamps comes exploring and Jayde and Faith stake him.

Following the other vamps back, they stake the second 'henchman' level vamp and make their way to Orme's hideout.

Reporting back they ask for weapons. Jon and Mary moped them down. Mary tells about Glitch splitting and the younger vamps searching for the slayer. "Yeah, whatever."

There are a group of about 45 vamps in a main chamber. There is a loop of weird slow burning flame. The slayers go in and catch some of Orme's speech.

"We will just have to depend on the Slayer to keep herself safe. She has destroyed most of their number in the last few days so hopefully she can handle 11 extra."

"The signs are clear, the ritual will start tomorrow. Soon the barriers between worlds will start to break and the fires of Tophet shall start to break free as the ritual fails."

"Letting the fires free would be baaaaaad for all of us. The ritual must be completed. The binding will fail without the chosen one who is required to complete the ritual. The chosen one is known. The other 3 have turned from their duty, thus the chosen is chosen."

"I know of the chosen one and shall lead her there. Once the fires are Tophet are bound into the chosen one, she shall be freed. Once the chosens spirit is released & engorged on the powers of fire, she will join us, for we have lead her to the completion of the cycle. With the holy fires of Tophet on our side we shall be able to clense the impure."

Orme steps into the slow burning fire, but doesnt catch fire. Two 'henchmen' goons step forward and pledge alligance to Orme. The lady vamp from the old house is brought up to do the same catches fire and burns. The other 40 vamps do the same and only two catch fire.

The slayers both fire at Orme's chest and with a ting, the first arrow splinters off and the second bounces off.

The slayers turn and run.

10 Sep 2000, Sunday 2:47am, Hotel & later UCB

People call the watchers and put the urgent call on the sewer plans for the area of Orme's hideout.

Faith and Jayde head back to the hotel. Faith ditches her 'weird friend' who is a messanger from a mage who used to work for the Mayor. She shoos the lady into her room and Jayde spas.

Jayde scores some of Faith's clothes. Faith makes some comment about them wearing the same cloths and Jayde says "No thank you, I already have a twin and thats enough."

They head off to the UCB offices in a taxi and leave the stinky limo.

Henry and another watcher with a laptop and a fax are there. Alex is there too. Faith isnt happy with Henry etc being there and goes quiet.

"So what about Orme being a robot?"

"Huh?"

"Arrows bounce off."

"Ah, you found his lair, hence the sewer maps."

"Bingo! So, metal orme?"

"Armor?"

"He wasnt wearing any."

"Hmm. I cant believe that vamps would follow a robot."

"If it was armor, you'd only need to protect the heart in a band."

"With what?" asks Faith.

"Err, metal, probably around 1/3 to 1/2 of an inch of steel around the chest. You might be able to get him from a high angle."

Faith wants to strap dynamite to watchers and send them in to blow up orme. Jayde likes that too.

The laptop guy wants to go the disintergrate option. Jayde likes that.

"Oh, I got an idea." pipes up Faith. "Can we get any of that armor? No. Ok, whats about the same thickness or hardness."

"Err, a car engine block?"

"Give me your keys."

"Why?"

"Slayer stuff." Henry hands over the keys. "Need to test a theory."

"Need a hand" asks Jayde?

"Maaaybe."

Faith and Jayde go outside.

"How do you feel about fighting evil with evil?" asks Faith.

"Why...?"

"Cause the knife is magical. I think it can get through Orme's armor."

"But?"

"I wanna test it before I commit to it and it will need to be 'recharged'."

"What does that involve?"

"Do you really wanna know?"

"No. I guess the're dead anyway unless we defeat Orme. Just dont kill anyone I know."

"I might not need to, you know, 'cause it might not work. No point arguing about it 'till we know if it works."

Faith and Jayde tinker in Henry's car before stabbing the engine. The knife slides into the engine block with a metal spark and buries itself to the hilt.

"Oooh, nice." Black oil starts to bleed out of the engine. The knife blade comes out totally black.

"Yeah. Err. Err. So, Ill go and... err... recharge it then? You sure?"

"Yeah. I really dont wanna know about it."

Faith slinks off (and eventually home).
