Rosebud...

Aug 26 2000, saturday night

Gemma and Casey start arguing pro/anti cops in the kitchen They argue and bicker, becoming more and more angry. Faith pipes into the argument on Casey's side. Jayde pops in and backs up Gemma. Casey and Faith go to leave, and Gemma and Jayde stop the dangerous criminal from leaving. Each side sizes the other up before Gemma suddenly pulls a gun.

"Up against the wall!" says Gemma, pointing the gun at Faith.

"I could take off you, you know..."

"Spread 'em, now!"

Someone shouts out "Rosebud, Cops!!" Casey turns and runs out of the kitchen.

Jayde pushes the angry Faith up against the wall and starts padding her down. Gemma and Jayde push Faith out of the room, muttering something about taking the escaped prisioner down to the station.

Mary and Jonathan look on, confused and sobering up quickly. Jonathan runs away to get Alex while Mary follows the girls outside. The twins push Faith into the car and drive off.

Jonathan talks to Alex and explains that the twins have taken Faith off somewhere. "Has Faith had a breakdown?"

"Err, I don't know, but..."

They run down to the front of the house where Mary babbles about what happened. Alex runs over to her car. "Don't worry ma'am, everything will be alright."

Mary and Jonathan exchange glances. Alex too?

"Can we come with you?"

"It isn't safe. An officer will be around to take a statement." Alex accellerates off.

Jonathan and Mary hop on the moped and speed off, trying to work out where they should be driving. Heading to the local police station, they don't see Jayde's car there, so they head to the park. Doing a quick loop of the park they see no evidence of the car so they head for the uni. Jayde's car is parked outside the Psych building and Mary and Jonathan slowly head inside.

Listening at the door they can hear muffeled curses and some movement. Heading inside, Alex seems to be manning the office (and she seems to think that it is a police station). M&J chat to Alex and ask about the prisioner who is in one of the offices cursing and threatening everyone in sight. Alex explains that the prisioner is about to be moved to a secure location and will get to see her laywer then. M&J nod, understandingly before rushing out of the building. Desperate, they call Conrad.

Conrad rolls up and and wants to know where Jayde is. M&J dont know so they find out more. Conrad seems to think that he can get Faith out, but M&J's restriction of with Alex alive is somewhat of a limitation. He asks where the others might be and someone suggests the basement which Conrad offers to search. Mary and Jonathan pace at the front of the building before some force from another dimension makes Mary try using the Berkeley search engine on the O week terminal in the lobby.

Searching for the names on the People's park mural returns nothing interesting until Mary tries "Rosebud Denovo" on www.berkeley.edu which returns links about the Unabomber and a link with something about police shooting Rosebud. Mary's eyes go (satisfying as a GM) wide and Mary runs up to Jonathan ranting something about police shooting Casey who is Rosebud in the university chancellors house.

"Oh that's over near where I saw those cops the other day" offers Jonathan helpfully.

The run off and hop onto the Moped speeding off. Mary rings Conrad and doesn't explaing much at all actually, but the general idea of making sure that Faith doesnt leave or anything else bad happens gets passed along.

They drive up to the house and it looks abandoned. Walking round the back they notice an open window. Decinding quickly they start to climb in. Jonathan feels a tapping on his shoulder and turns to be confrunted with a man in a black coat. Mary's legs are dangeling out of the VC's house window.

"Need a hand?"

"Eep!"

"Er, Jonathan, right?"

"Eep! Eep!"

"Buffy mentioned you. I'm Angel."

"Eep! Eep! Eep!" Jonathan goes pale. Must be a vampire thing.

Mary leans out the window and tries to explain whats happening. Angel offers to help and all three climb into the mansion.

Angel hears movement upstairs so people climb up and the trio split up (well Angel goes off to search the 2nd floor).

...

The twins (as cops) close in on an intruder on the second floor. Jayde see's the intruder peeking into the next room and bursts in, shouting "Freeze!". The intruder runs and Jayde snaps off a shot. The intruder keeps running and Jayde follows into the next room. Gemma is in the next room and calls out for the man in the coat to stop before firing. The intruder bursts through the balcony window and Jayde shoot again after another warning. The intruder is thrown over the rail and falls. The cops run up and see the intruder running off into the darkness.

...

Much creaping round later, people end up in a third floor bedroom. Suddenly the door opens and there is a woman with a knife. Her eyes go wide in panic, she holds a hand up to stop something and then a shot rings out. People are already running. The shots spin the woman as she tries to run and then another shot rings out but everyone is already under the bed.

Below, the cops hear the shots and run up to the top floor. Splitting up they move towards the sound. Gemma is first into the bathroom and a woman bursts through the door with a knife and Gemma fires, falling back into the bath and hitting her head. Jayde rushes in and moves over to check her partner.

The door opens and Angel walks into the bathroom. Gemma's hand twiches and the gun arcs up and shoots angel a number of times.

People have recovered from under the bed and are running into the bathroom. Gemma and Jayde are looking confused. People check on angel who is dead.... no alive... no still dead but alive. Casey looks confused. Outside tires grind gravel and everone decides to run.
