Toulak demons

Origin

Toulak demons are said to have always existed. Their own lore states that they were present at the inital forming of the barriers between worlds.

Appearance

Toulak demons may pass for human from a distance, but their spikey ridges on their backs quickly make their form apparent.

Their skin is leathery skin and a mottled green in color.

Disturbingly, three recently found bodies seem to have a primitive tail not found on previously examined bodies.

Known information

Toulak demons are not really demons, as they originate from this dimension (rather than a 'hell' dimension).

They are said to be immortal and eternal through reincarnation into the same physical set of bodies body. Upon death of the host body, the closest Toulak soul is drawn from the Astral down into the body and the old sould is released into the Astral plane.

Toulak spirits float, waiting for the next available body to become available. The Toulak Soul Speak ritual can be used to contact these spirits, although contact with a specific individual has proved to be impossible.

The destruction of bodies causes a larger number of souls than available bodies, there are expected to be many spare souls, althought what effect this is unknown.

There are rumours of rituals to transform human victims into Toulak hosts, but no proof has been found.

Strengths

Toulak demons live in communial families for strength and self protection.

Toulak's phyiscal apperance changes over time, apparently controled by the spirit in control of the host at the time. It is uncertain if these shape changing skills allow changes into non Toulak form.

The physial apperance of the Toulak can only be used as an indication of the age/maturity of the individual in the host has been controled for an exteneded period.

Sometimes 'child' hosts, recently posessed by older spirits may posess vast knowledge or magical abilities from previous 'lives'.

Destruction of a family of Toulak demons can be difficult because of the rebirth of the demons. Destruction of all bodies is the recomended method of destroying a nest.

Weakness

Toulak demons can be destroyed in the normal ways, but slayers should be aware of their tough natural armor.

The 'reincarnation' into a new body can often be traumatic for the new host spirit and a period of disorientation is usual.

Destruction of the body can be achived by immersion in flowing water over the period of a full or new Moon.

Toulak demons are thought not to regenerate during these periods.
