Orme and Varda

Almost all the organized vampires in SF fall under the control of Orme and through him, Varda. The vampires follow Orme because he brings them the organization, skills and leadership to work in groups and thus strength in numbers.

Varda provides the vampires with information and spiritual leadership through Orme. She is looked upon with reverence and awe because of Orme's dedicated support and her disappearing act.

Orme

Orme was a pious warrior involved in some of the bloodier battles and butcheries in the Crusade before being turned by another vampire in the Holy land.

Orme's belief in God allowed him to easily accept his new destiny as a demon. He embraced his new life with a passion seldom seen in a young vampire. He was much more interested in fighting for Evil than he was in just feeding and killing. This attitude quickly drew the attention of elder vampires who needed good leaders and fighters.

Orme was initially employed by the Triumverate (a group of elder vampires) as a thug. He embraced his task with avengance and worked to become the strongest, most efficient killing machine that he could. It wasn't the joy of killing that motivated him, but rather a need to excel at the job given to him by the dark powers.

Orme's efficiency and unstoppable dedication caused fear in the other vampires. Soon the Triumverate were using him to lead the other vampires. Orme's belief and single mindedness made him a focused leader and his unwillingness to sacrifice his troops added to their loyalty.

Since the fall of the Triumverate, Orme has moved to the new world and made a name for himself holding SF as a vampire city. He keeps the vampires under control so that the attention of the Slayer and other anti demon forces is not focussed on the city, but the night is ruled by Orme.

Varda

Varda was the daughter of a scollarly rabbi and his family. She wasn't destined to become a scholar, but her intense competition with her brother became her obsession. She lead a double life, at night she would grab the books that her father and brother studied and she would memorize and learn it all. Soon she had exceeded her brothers abilities.

One night, as she snuck out with a candle to catch up with her brothers daily study, she came into the kitchen to find her family dead and a vampire feeding on them. Varda stared at the scene with fascination and amazement. The vampire smiled and embraced her.

Varda was embraced into a vampire community that believed the whole Christian mythology, but she had a different view. She started researching the history of demons and vampires and her knowledge rivaled that of the leaders of her new kind.

As Varda read more and more, she started to find predictions of recent history in the ravings of madmen and scholars from the past. Varda started to research all the prophecy she could find and three years later she fled the libraries and ran into the wilderness.

That was centuries ago and now Varda has come to the New World and contacted Orme. After one nights conversation, he dedicated himself to following her. Many of the younger vampires were uneasy with that, but Orme stood firm with Varda by his side. She just smiles and disappeared and no one has seen her since.
