Mary has ignored religion and superstition, and is concentrating on things that are real and measurable. She is aware that psychology plays an important part in human understanding of the world, and intends to study psych at university to try and get a handle on understanding people.
Mary lives in the student halls at UCB and is expecting to take every subject on offer if she can. She may live in the halls, but she made sure that she got into a hall that was on the way past Casey, Glitch and Neo's house so that she could wake Casey up and take him to class on the way to Uni.
Mary is like that good little voice in Casey's ear. She keeps the mundane stuff from falling out of Casey's sight, stuff like eating, paying the bills and going to class. Fortunatly, working together on this stuff gets it out the way pretty quickly, so the 5 second attention span of Casey and Glitch isnt really a problem. Mary sort of has to prod Casey sometimes to get him to attend class or do homework, which can be a bit of a drag, but then Casey is always helpful with things like going out to the mountains to collect spiders or things like that.
Mary is totally in love with Casey, but cant imagine Casey actually settling down with anyone or staying still long enough to focus on one thing and to be honest, that energy is so much a part of Casey that he just wouldnt be Casey without it. So, Mary's relationship with Casey has been relaxed and moment to moment. Mary didn't expect that to last very long, given the rate at which Casey moves, but surprisingly, it has been solid and strong (if moment to moment) for the last 2.5 years. Casey has gone out, fallen in love, been crushed and recovered so many times, but their strong friendship and their relationship has lasted. Once or twice Mary has felt she almost understood Casey, but she has been unable to classify the understanding exactly. Still she figures that she can wait until she does psychology.
Glitch always struck Mary as Casey's evil twin. Where Casey wants to release 10000 monkeys into a shopping mall to watch people's brains explode, Glitch seems to want to do it so he can lift their wallets or grab the latest playstation game while the shop attendants are distracted. The line between Caseyness and Glitchness is a hard one to define.
Mary feels that Neo is sort of like her, in that he is caught up in this chaotic energy that is the House. The House has some hypnotic power that seems to center around Jolt and Nerf weapons, but it does somehow energised people. Neo isnt a Force for Chaos (tm) like the other two, but if he wernt there to keep Glitch under control, Mary knows that the police and/or firefighters would need to be there in a flash.
Lawyers take note: Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Angel and all characters related belong to Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy and fox.
