Going to give up. Sitting in sun waiting to toast. Street kid comes
over, offers food and starts to talk. Get a feel 4 life again.
Maybe its remone and Caroline?
The night blanketed him like a silken shawl, and the stars twinkled
coldy above him, but nothing touched him, as he sat on a rickety old
chest wrapped up in his thoughts. He had had friends do what he was
about to do, and he had even been there for one of them during her last
moments, but tonight he was alone. Hell, everybody died alone, even
when there were others. It didn't matter anymore. Nothing mattered.
He wondered what flashed through other people's minds at this time.
He supposed it was mucg the same as his thoughts - remembering faces
of loved ones that he would soon see again.....if there was a Hell.
WHat would it be like?, he wondered. The final moment, when he saw
his first sun rise in 200 years. It better be good, he thought
ruefully - to accompany me going out with a bang. Would his skin
flake and melt first? Would he actually feel much pain? No matter, he
had decided that it was time, and that was thaT. No going back -
nothing was the same anymore, hell, people didn't even taste the
same, and all this preservative and pollution shit really did make a
difference.
Even the young vampires were different...didn't have the
same respect for their elders...didn't know what was good for them.
And the old ones...they were even worse. They all seemed to need
something to cling onto to stay alive, and generally it was pretty
stupid, like keeping all their old stuff around them to have as an
anchor.
Didn't they realise that sooner or later, everyone of their
kind would feel useless, out of touch and out of place. What sort of
world was it now? You couldn't even feed off a vagrant without some
self important cop coming and trying to book you and you would have
to have him for desseert to get him off your back.
Anyway, this era was not for his kind. They had once been the superior
beings, and regarded the mortals as little more than animals. But look
at what they had created! He shivered, even though he could not feel the
breeze. Those atomic weapons, and chemical weApons. Alright, his kind
was an abomination of nature, but this was ridiculous! He wanted no
part of this world, and as far as he was concerned, others of his
kind who blended in with this crazy place were parasites and worse
that their human prey.
