% ($Id: setites.html,v 1.1.1.1 1998/08/07 05:34:46 korg Exp $) \section{Settites} \subsection{Playing Settites} I played Settites very much along the lines of the Vampires in \cite{js:vampires}, which I recommend to anyone. For people who can not wait to read it or who are too foolish to listen to my advice, I shall outline the general behaviour after I have discussed the two groups. This book has a great discription of how horrid and corrupting dominate can be It also provides a good 'baddie' for a group of mortal players. They can then discover the other two vampire sides, who will hopefully prove not all vampires are like those they are fighting. More good material, for actually playing Settites, can be found in "Lair of the White Worm", which has in it a good view of Snake based vampires. Noone in my game actually confronted a Settite, but I think I prefer the White Worm vampire weakness of music. This would cause Settites to stay out of nightclubs and such, which is fine by me. :) \subsection{Settite Forces} The Snake influence in Melbourne is increasing as Settites come to the city to make right an old betrayal. Initial settite deployment consists of a scouting/temple party, but soon, a powerful hunting pack arrives to take up the fight. Some resentment exists between the two parties as the Scouts see this city as theirs, as the first here and did most of the ground work. Fearing the wrath of the elders in the Temple party keeps them in line. The scouting party feels its advances in this city are about to be taken over by the newcomers and thrown away revenging some past slight. The elder pack feels the young ones resentment and have a lack of enthusiasm for their mission. The Settite forces think that Frederika will most likely support and work with the Sabbat, so they are placing their influence behind the Camarilla. They hope to smash the Sabbat hold and thus, destroy Frederika's powerbase. The elders know that something large is being planned by Frederika and they suspect she will not leave until it is complete. They are also willing to pay almost any cost to find Frederika's goals. \subsection{Scouting Party} The scouting party temple is in XXXX dunno. \begin{itemize} \item James Anderson. She has shown you more joy and happiness that you believed possible. \end{itemize} \subsection{Temple Builders} \begin{itemize} \item William Royston. Prepair a place for the King. The one who shall come here and rule. Your temple must be fit for a king, not some hovel. Frederika betrayed you, time for revenge. XXXX \item ?. \end{itemize} \subsection{Settites in some detail} I am using some bits of Bryan Rendell's quite clever Settite rewrite. If not in exact detail then at least some of the ideas. Aswell as ideas from \cite{js:vampires}. Settites exist to corrupt and twist. That is what they do, balance the unnatural order that seems to control the world currently. Settites take the order and the good and attempt to create evil and chaos. You cant have Good without Evil. Their motives vary, from deliberate counter to Good, to self gratifying Evil, but the end is the same. \subsubsection{The Settite Organisation} Each settite is controlled by his or her sire or elder in the temple, whom they must obey. This controller sends the settite on missions and set the goals that settite is to achieve. The settite also has two groups of human retainers, willing servents and unwilling servents. The willing servents are those from whom the Settite usually selects their Childer. They are expected to fight, die and obey without question. The unwilling servents are those the Settite keeps for their own pleasure and use. They are used for corrupting and luring others into the Settites web. They are usually fully aware of their actions, but unable to resist the golden eyes of their tormenter. The numbers of each depends on the age and power of the settite aswell as how long they have been in the city. Lastly there are the younger Settites and captured enemy kindred who the settite has influence over. Younger Settites from the temple are used to aid settites plans and gain favor with their elders. \subsubsection{Settite Embrace} Settites, when embraced, undergo a change that affects their minds soon after their ritualistic embraced. The Sire puts the victim through a long tortuous series of ordeals with drugs, domination and other diciplines, peaking in the draining of the victim and then the Sire returns a drop of the blood to the victim, often with some added chemicals to their already tainted blood to 'help' the process. The shock of the embrace combinded with the twisting of the mind before and during the process shock the victim and as their vampiric powers grow, they become more like mindless zombies. Their are generally fair numbers of these zombie vampires at the local temple. Generally at least one for each Settite often more. The victim stays in this state for an certain time, kept in this state with magical rituals and blood feeding. Sometimes they are bonded to their future masters. As required, they are bought out of their trancelike state to become full Settites. Oddly enough, the longer they stay in this trance like state, the less obvious effect the process has on them. Generally Settite Childer are kept, trancelike, for a few week to 'get to know themselves fully' and also to allow their full faculties to return. When they are brought out, they are as rational as they were before, but their view has been corrupted to the settite way. \subsubsection{Settite Weakness} The Settite weakness for bright light is only a story that they themselves spread. Their real weakness is for music. Snake charming type music causes them to dance and writhe towards the source of the music. For more detail on this, I recomend Lair of the White Worm. Because of this, the Settites tend to avoid nightclubs and other places often inhabbited by other Kindred, unless they control the place and thus have control over the music. \subsection{Settite Plans} \subsubsection{Influencing Ingrid} The Elder setties have been targeting Ingrid for a number of decades, slowly wearing away at her mental discipline, weakening her and implanting suggestions to allow them to sway her. \subsubsection{Draco} Draco is about the scariest and most powerful human in \mbm. The Settites give him his head and help him in anyway they can, tapping him for money and power as they need it and keeping him up on what's happening. The Settites want to Embrace him, but he refused. When he dies, they will save no expense to bring him over. The Settites always have Ghouls and at least one Settite bodyguard with him at all times. Draco also has a bracelet that lets him teleport to the local Settite temple if he is in grave danger.
