Experience

Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University
November 2003 - Present Caulfield Campus, VIC

I am currently employed as an additional Data Integrity Officer (DIO) to work on the Reporting Calendar. In this role, I have assessed the current state of the Calendar, worked on defining the reports needed and adding these reports to the Calendar. This has also included work in specifing a redesign of the Calendar to enhance it's ease of use and maintenance.

During this period, it was also announced that the Discoverer Reporting tool provided with the Callista Student Administration System is to be phased out when the new Web Client is introduced. I have worked to identify reports written by staff within the Faculty that will need conversion before this occurs; to collect and analyse these reports; and to work with the IAS Reporting Team in converting them to run on the new Monash Reporting Module.

I have also been involved in developing the Technology Services Group Strategic and Operational Plans.

Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University
April 2003 - June 2003 Caulfield Campus, VIC

This was a temporary position as Data Integrity Officer (DIO). The current DIO was Acting Manager for the Data Services Unit while the manager took two months Long Service Leave. The Data Services Unit provides a range of administrative systems and reporting services to Faculty management, staff and students. The DIO is responsible for monitoring the quality of the Faculty data entered in Callista, the University's student records system; producing standard and ad hoc reports on the this data; and in providing support to other users accessing data and building reports via the Callista reporting tools. All of these tasks require an understanding of student progression, the academic calender and Callista, as well as the ability to liaise with staff to accurately define reporting requirements.

Working in a combination of Oracle Discoverer and Microsoft Access, I built reports to monitor and correct student progression, find candidates for Honours degrees and student awards, and to look for trends between advanced standing and subsequent academic performance. The more complex of these reports were constructed as a sequence of queries within an Access database developed as an ongoing reporting tool. I was able to contribute to it's ongoing development as part of a standardized reporting calender.
